**Summary/ General Description of Job:**
The role of the Electronics Technician I is to provide Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure program support with wired and RF wireless networks (CONUS & OCONUS). This support will be provided to SPAWAR and their sponsors. This position reports directly to the Chesapeake Ops Program Manager and his Charleston manager.
**Essential Duties & Job Functions:**
* Working closely with the government sponsor(s) and other contractors/subcontractors in federal facilities;
* Provide infrastructure installation and troubleshooting support
* Implementation of infrastructure solutions
* Provide copper and fiber termination and slicing support
* Operation of fiber copper and wireless test equipmnet
**Accountable For:**
* We expect this employee to be knowledgeable in all areas of network infrastructure and structured wiring including wireless access point installation
* We expect this work to be conducted in a timely and professional manner.
* We expect the employee to be a self-starter and to pursue self-education to remain current with industry trends, new technology, new equipment and capabilities.
* We expect the employee to keep manager and supervisors apprised of their progress, maintain ability to work well with others, adhere to contract requirements, and comply with company policies and procedures.
* Must be a US citizen
* Must have an active Secret clearance
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Minimum of 5 years experience working in a networking/shore infrastructure environment
* Experience with DoD, National, EIA/TIA and BICSI technical and OSHA safety standards.
* General knowledge of operating principles of wired, wireless and RF environments
* High School diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications
* Two (2) year contractor apprenticeship that included at least six months of formal classroom training that addressed Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
* Must have valid driver s license
* Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certification preferred but not required
* Experience with Cisco and other network appliances a plus
* Wireless network (802.11b/g/a/n, WLAN/WWAN/WMAN) survey/deployment/support experience preferred.
* Shipyard Competent Person Certification, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification, Man Aloft Certification (Climber Certification).
* The ability to operate lifts and heavy equipment.
