Job Description Overview: Assist the IT Director in supporting both in-house and remote employees with software and hardware issues. Build, configure, maintain and troubleshoot servers and services. Job Description: Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this position. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly while understanding the impact on operations. Responsibilities include assisting the IT director with design, procurement, deployment, maintenance and documentation of corporate systems and services. Individuals should be customer service oriented with a strong troubleshooting background. Work with a team that is responsible for the entire IT environment for a small government contractor. Provide desktop support for local and remote employees, network connectivity, software installation and support (Microsoft operating systems and Office Products, Adobe Products), network printer setup and administration, remote connectivity setup, malware removal and maintaining IT related documentation. Additional core services will also be assigned as competencies warrant. Familiarity with unique requirements for DOD contractors a plus. Specific Responsibilities: · Design, build and maintain complete systems and solutions. · Troubleshoots and repair problematic or broken computer equipment. · Deploy new systems and perform moves · Documents installation or upgrades of new or modified software and hardware. · Build, configure, maintain and troubleshoot various servers and services throughout the organization. · Evaluates computer system performance and specifications to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer capabilities. · Makes recommendations for improvements on computer system. · Performs preliminary troubleshooting on network connectivity issues and works to resolve systemic issues. · Play a critical role in upholding current company policies and procedures specific to the use of company technology. · Refers to vendor knowledge bases, technical journals and manuals to learn about new computer hardware and software. · Other duties as assigned Experience: 6 – 10 years (commercial environment) desktop support, help desk, and system/network administration. Education: Associates Degree Required Skills: · Ability to plan, organize and document system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with company as well as government policies and procedures. · Must be able to think independently, develop solutions and make decisions with little to no supervision. · Well organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously · Must be credible and trustworthy · Must be able to communicate technical/complex information effectively, both verbally and in writing · Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization · Must be self-motivated with a focus on customer service · In-depth familiarity with Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows XP and Windows 7, Windows Server 2003,2008,2012) · In-depth familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Office 2007, 2010 & 2013) · Understanding of basic hardware, software, and network troubleshooting procedures · Familiarity with supporting common network services such as AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, FTP, HTTP, etc. · Basic understanding of Virtualization Preferred Certifications: · CompTIA A+ · CompTIA Network+ · CompTIA Security+ · Microsoft Technology Associate (IT path), Microsoft Technology · Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (Server) Physical Demands: · Must be comfortable sitting at a desk viewing a monitor for extended periods of time. · Must be able to lift 50 lbs. · Must be able to climb a ladder and crawl under a desk.
